why blog, anyway?

Why would you even want to blog anyway?

Well, let me tell you why I blog.  There are a few reasons…

1.  I am a communicator.  I like ideas and I like communicating them in a distilled and easily digestible way.

2.  I am passionate about women and am passionate about them living in freedom (from guilt, duty, fear…).  Another way to say that is, I have a message to share.

3.  I love information.  I enjoy watching stories come together and play out on a grand scale across a slice of society.  Blogging and social media provide that “slice of life”.

4.  It is a supplemental mode of income for my family.  I treat it much more like a job than a hobby.

Now, why might you blog?  There are so many reasons.  Maybe you are dedicated to a cause, like ending sexual slavery.  Perhaps you’re moving through an massive life event, like adopting a chid or battling an illness.  Possibly you have a product or service to sell.  It could be that you just love connecting with people and are a social butterfly in the newest social arena.  To be sure, you probably love words and believe they have power.  Maybe you love words so much that your sole reason for blogging is just practicing and stringing together phrases.

I have found that blogging became infinitely easier and much more effective when I really began to understand why I was doing it.  Having two or three key reasons thought out and well understood has helped me stay dedicated and enthused even when I grow weary or frustrated.

Have you thought about the main reasons you blog?  What are the primary reasons you keep putting words out there?
