measuring spoons

Do you know what I hate?  I hate it when you are chugging through a recipe and you need to use the tablespoon measuring spoon.  That should be no big deal, but the recipe called for a tablespoon of peanut butter earlier.  Peanut butter in a measuring spoon is the kiss of death for me.  I hate cleaning measuring spoons multiple times for one recipe.

I also hate those measuring spoons that are all attached to each other.  Talk about a major pain!  So, one day the easiest solution came to me.  I was at the dollar store and they had a whole bin of these red measuring spoons–a dollar per set!  So, I bought 3 sets.

Now, they all sit individually in a mason jar in my cabinet.  3 beautiful spoons for each measurement.  No more cleaning in between ingredients.  They all get thrown in the dishwasher when I’m done.

This single change to my kitchen has been a time saver and a sanity saver while I’m cooking.  I know it seems silly and miniscule, but it really helps in my attitude and my eagerness to get in the kitchen.  I identified an unenjoyable part of the process and found a solution.

That is the way to make any task less of a fuss.

Do you have any favorite ways to deal with measuring spoons? Or, better yet…measuring cups?! I haven’t figured out a way to deal with the mess of measuring cups, yet.
