comments!

Note:  You may have noticed that you had a hard time commenting on the “Welcome Home” post.  I have my comment moderation set to hold comments that have 2 or more links in the body of the comment–as this is typical comment spam behavior.  However, for this post, it is just what I asked you to do!  I was on vacation and wasn’t here to catch the comments stuck in moderation.  I’d love for you to take a moment and respond to a couple of the new comments that have popped up!  Spread the love around.

Speaking of comments–do you have a comment policy for your blog?  This can be something publicized to your readers or just kept for your self.  Having a comment policy can help level expectations with your readers, it can help you maintain boundaries you’ve set for your online time, and it can help guide the direction of your blog.  I think having some plans down on paper or page helps cultivate the culture of your online space.

It has been said that you can either cultivate great content or great engagement with your readers, but it is difficult to do both well.  I have found that statement to be very true.  I’ve even had a hard time keeping up with my own comment policy–especially when you have a life change (like a pregnancy, as I have).  Since I’ve had a hard time keeping up with my own “rules”, it probably means it’s time to revisit my decisions or decide to buckle down and devote the time needed.

How do you handle comments?  Do you respond to them all?  Do you do it within the comment section or by email?
