a reason for passion

Passion isn’t sustainable unless it is rooted in something more than a whim.  For me, my passion is linked with my utter faith that my belief in Jesus has set me free.  My life’s purpose is for others to live and make choices out of freedom, rather than guilt or shame or obligation.  Because my passion is set on something that is bigger than me–I am able to weather the bad days and the boredom and the waiting and the hard work that come with living your “big thing”.

Maybe your passion is planted on the idea that the Earth is worth protecting.  Maybe it stands firm on the unwavering desire to see orphans find homes.  Maybe you are stuck on the fact that love is healing and love is worth it.  Maybe you believe every man, regardless of color, should be equal.

Whatever your passion is, it must–absolutely must–be founded in something bigger than yourself.  No matter how big you are, you are not big enough.  There is an end to you, there is an end to your strength, there is an end to your knowledge, there is an end to your focus.  But, where you are small and where you lack–a firm and steadfast belief in something bigger than you can carry you through.

For Christians this week is Passion Week–the week leading up to Jesus’ resurrection (Easter).  I am going to be away from my computer for the weekend to spend the time enjoying loved ones and rest and celebration and Springtime.  I hope you’ll spend the weekend with people you love and who love you!
