Adventure Planning :: Cold Snap in the South

For our first mission, we had to go find 8 coats (I already had 2 at home that we didn’t need).  I headed to Value Village, a local thrift “department” store that I had been dying to visit anyway.  It’s not a crime to actually ENJOY helping other people, right?!  I’m all for killing two birds with one stone–especially when we are all limited to the same 24 hours each day (what do you think it would cost to buy a couple more hours, anyway?!).

So, our destination was Value Village, as seen below.  We had a Value Village in my hometown where I scored half of my high school wardrobe (let’s say my friends and i had a…bohemian…approach to fashion)–so I was eager to see if this branch lived up to my memories.

Doesn’t my oldest son (in the main part of the buggie…no they aren’t twins…2 years apart actually, thank you) look thrilled to be invited along on this spectacular adventure?  :)

Okay, so we headed into the store, me completely unknowing how much this little trip of ours was going to set us back.  Were these the $3 type of coats or the $14 type of coats?  That makes a big difference when you’re buying 8!  The fact that I had yet to pass the dollars and cents/sense by my husband made me hope that they were of the $3 variety!  :)

Luckily, the coats were between $1.75-$9 and we were able to find 8 coats for a variety of different sizes.  So, the procurement part of the mission has been completed!

Our trip to Value Village was such a success that it had my oldest son asking what our next adventure was and when we were starting it.  This morning he woke up expecting another exciting installment of our missions.  He even bonded a little bit with our check-out woman at Value Village.  It was sweet when he was telling her our plans for the coats.  :)

The coats are now all freshly laundered and are smelling sweet and snuggly.  Now, onto the next part of planning–figuring out how to give these coats out in a way to most directly impact individuals.
