things i’m loving in june

Y’all, I’m really struggling to find my footing here at Tiny Twig lately. I love this space, I love sharing words, and I love sharing images. But, I’m spread crazy thin right now and my family is in a very “needful” season. These boys of mine aren’t going to raise themselves–and so, when I flop onto my bed at night…I’ve had 5 ideas to write about and not any time that I’ve dedicated to sit and put them to paper.

I’m trying to figure out how to make this happen more frequently. I long to write about the things I’m learning, feeling, hoping, dreaming, and DOING. But, where I desire clarity…only mush comes out.

Also, if you’re a blogger, you might resonate with this. All of my ideas feel so spread out. My pretty pictures live on Instagram. My witty bits live on Twitter. My “life announcements” happen on Facebook. And then I do a lot of writing a lot of other places. So, then, there’s Tiny Twig. I don’t want to give up on this dear space…not at all. But, it’s going to have to take some thought, patience, and discipline to make this old girl (when did my blog become an “old girl”) shine again.

Anyway, because I don’t want to leave you with nothing…these are a few things I’m loving right now.

Megan and Jessi sent me an edition of their subscription box full of handmade goods. It was a super fun way to sample a bunch of handmade goodies that you might never had found otherwise!

My sweet friend Amber opened up an online boutique of goods that help empower a survivor of slavery. The truth is, the things we purchase can be life-giving or not. I’d prefer for my dollars to go to good…right? I’ve spent time with Amber, just chatting about her dreams for Beautiful and Beloved and the way it all came together. She’s a good egg.

If you’re looking for a quick read, Freefall to Fly just might be it. I found Rebekah’s writing really lovely and the way she put words to NYC made me want to pack up and move there. She speaks to anxiety and life transition and ministry and motherhood. Check, check, check, check.

Guys, this has been a lifesaver for me this summer. If you have wild or rowdy kids, PLEASE check out this super super inexpensive eBook for GREAT ideas to keep your bunch occupied. Jen has 4 boys like me, BUT, her’s came all at once. That’s right, Jen has quadruplet boys, so you know these activities are legit. I was super lucky to receive an advanced copy of the book–but I’d buy it once a week if I had to. Her ideas are that good and the eBook is that well done. Just go get Kidventures now, seriously.

I love a good iPhone photo. I can’t wait until I get to upgrade (hopefully for my birthday!). I talked with Angie awhile ago about reviewing Snap, Filter, Share for you guys…and I must say, it’s REALLY good. It’ll get your creative juices flowing, help you figure out how to make the most of that little camera, and even fill you in on how she processes her photos. She’s one of my favorite follows on Instagram, so you know she’s doing something right. ((If you aren’t following me on Instagram, you’re missing out the place I share more intimate bits of my life))

On Monday evening, we had our first LIVE SIMULCAST for this year’s Influence Conference. Jessi, Ashley (our conference manager), Jenna (a speaker), and Rebecca (a community leader), and I all met up for a Google chat that was broadcast for anyone to watch. It was SO much fun and our hashtag #InfluenceConf trended on Twitter during the Simulcast. For those of you not well versed in Twitter, that means that out of everything on Twitter, that hashtag was being tweeted the most often for a period of time. Pretty exciting! During the 2012 Conference, our opening party was the same night as the vice presidential debate. #InfluenceConf trended right below #JoeBiden…that’s a pretty fun picture to have!! :) On Friday, we’ll post the video from the Simulcast on The Influence Blog if you missed it live.

Lastly, if you’ve ever wanted to know what taking a class on The Influence Network is like…now is your chance to try it out for free (well, 1 penny). Lisa Surratt, the Eastern US Director of The A21 Campaign will be teaching about what we all need to know about sex trafficking. It’s going to be a great class and also a great opportunity to test the waters to see if an Influence class is something you’d love. ((My guess is that the answer is, YES, you will love Influence classes!!))
